Program Review Protocols

Protocol for Mission, Goals, Campus SLOs, and Program Review Criteria Approval

1. Sign up for each committee is done at Convocation (everyone must sign up for at least one committee)
2. Proposed Mission, Goals, Campus SLOs, and Program Review Criteria are sent out to entire campus (Faculty, Staff, and Students) as well as a list of committee members to contact. Comments are solicited up to the first date/time that committee meets.
3. Committees meet once or twice during the semester to discuss and edit.
4. Committee recommendations go up to AdStaff (Campus Council?) for approval.
5. If not approved, the recommendations go back to committee for more work until approved.

Protocol for Program Mini-Program Review

1. All units will perform a Mini-Program Review in Spring 2004.
2. The Mini-Program Reviews will be due on April 30, 2003. A copy will be given to the Chair of the Advisory Review Team and the appropriate Dean and Chancellor.
3. A 3-person team will be created as an Advisory Review Team for each program.
4. The Advisory Review Team will answer 4-5 questions about the program based on the Program Review Report.
5. A copy of the Advisory Review Team report will be given to the Program and to the appropriate Dean and Chancellor.
6. A strategic planning meeting will be scheduled by the Dean to discuss goals, action plans, budget, scheduling and personnel.

Protocol for Program Review
1. Programs will receive a Program Review packet in the semester prior to their review. All reviews will be due in Spring (April 30).
2. A copy of the Program Review will be given to the Chair of the Advisory Review Team and the appropriate Dean and Chancellor.
3. The Advisory Review Team will consist of one Faculty member, one staff member and a student or industry representative.
4. The Advisory Review Team will answer 4-5 questions about the program based on the Program Review Report.
5. A copy of the Advisory Review Team report will be given to the Program and to the appropriate Dean and Chancellor.
6. A strategic planning meeting will be scheduled by the Dean to discuss goals, action plans, timelines, budget, scheduling and personnel.
7. Program Review status report will be submitted annually (DATE??) by programs and will incorporate information from that year's PHI report.


DRAFT Advisory Review Team Questions about Program Review
11/26/03

1. Did the Program/Unit provide thorough and complete responses (supported by data) to the questions asked in the program review document? Please elaborate.

2. Is the program's assessment (i.e. analysis of strengths and improvements needed) reason able? And is it supported by the data provided in the program review document?

3. In reviewing the Program Plan for Improvement:
Are the plans specific enough to be implemented?
Do the proposed objectives/activities reflect the improvements needed as determined by the program review?
Is the timeline feasible?

4. Please address any particular areas that should be amended, enhanced or deleted.

Alternate questions:
1. Does it appear from our program that students transferring to a four-year school will be successfully prepared to do upper division work?

2. Do the goals of the program appear to be met?

3. Do the goals of the program meet industry needs?

4. Are there areas we should revisit in course or program offerings?
