UH COMMON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

A NEW single online scholarship application, the UH System Common Scholarship Application, is available through NextGen Web Solutions Scholarship Manager. The application is available at https://uhsys.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com from January 1 through March 1. Use this ONE application to apply for scholarships at your home campus as well as UH System scholarships.

A security feature causes the application to time out after 45 minutes so it is highly recommended that you prepare your personal statement and essays in a word document or PDF ahead of time and then copy or paste into the application. You may save and continue your application any time before submission, but you will be unable to return to make changes after you submit your application.

The deadline for application and supporting documentation is:

March 1, 2013 by 4:00 pm HST.

Below are some of the scholarships that are available to students attending Kaua`i CC. All scholarships are dependent upon funding and amounts may vary from year to year.

 

General Scholarships

David and Shirley Iha Scholarship

To provide scholarships to Kaua`i CC students with financial need, to assist students involved in international education activities; and/or to students who are enrolled in the music or performing arts program at Kaua`i CC. Undegraduate, full-time or half-time; financial need as determined by the FAFSA; involved in an international education program and/or who are in the music/performing arts program at Kaua`i CC.

Charles R. Hemenway Scholarship

Hawai'i residents; Classified undergraduate student enrolled at least half-time; Financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); Resident tuition status (excludes non-residents, military exempt, foreign exempt, and faculty exempt); Must meet Kaua`i CC's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.

Hawaii Veteran's Memorial Scholarship

Hawai'i residents; Classified undergraduate student enrolled full-time; Financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); Resident tuition status (excludes non-residents, military exempt, foreign exempt, and faculty exempt); Must meet Kaua`i CC's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.

Danford Friend Endowed Scholarship

Undergraduate, full-time or half-time; must have graduated from a Westside public or charter school, or Ni`ihau School; majoring in nursing, medical assisting, education, natural resources, agriculture, business technology, the Marine Option Program or those students who
have been accepted into the Wai‘ale‘ale Project; minimum 2.0 gpa; some degree of financial need.

Elama Kanahele Scholarship

Undergraduate, full-time or half-time; must be a native of Niihau who speaks the Niihau language; some degree of financial need.

Kaua`i Community Federal Credit Union (KCFCU) Scholarship

Members of Kaua`i Community Federal Credit Union; enrolled full-time or part-time in any area of study at Kaua`i Community College, preference to students enrolled full-time; satisfactory academic progress toward degree; some degree of financial need.

Kaua`i Government Employee Federal Credit Union (KGEFCU) Scholarship

Kaua'i resident, accepted for enrollment into any UH campus program full-time; 2.5 cum g.p.a.; potential for success; good citizenship qualities; and some financial need. Applicant or relative must meet eligibility requirements for membership at KGEFCU.

Joseph Kuala Memorial Scholarship

Undergraduates; enrolled full-time in any area of study at Kaua`i Community College; must have graduated from a Hawaiian-focused charter school located on the island of Kaua`i; minimum GPA of 2.5 for first- time applicants, 3.0 for previous recipients; and some degree of financial need.

La France Scholarship

Undergraduate; half-time; cumulative 2.5 grade point average; some degree of financial need; and involvement in community service projects on Kaua`i.

Pamantasan Scholarship

Hawaii resident; have earned at least 12 credits while at Kaua`i CC, minimum 2.5 cum. g.p.a, financial need, potential for success, and acceptance at a 4-year college. Priority given to Pamantasan Club members, former members, and all other minority students and majors will be considered.

Pila Kikuchi Scholarship

To assist one matriculating student with major in Science or Math. 3.3 cum g.p.a.; full-time; completed two years of Math and science courses at Kaua`iCC, some need; and potential for success.

Ruth E. Black Scholarship

To assist sons and daughters of engineers, contractors or construction workers. Hawaii resident; enrolled full-time in any major; 2.50 cum g.p.a; financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

Takehiko Hasegawa Scholarship

Kaua`i resident; 2.7 cumulative g.p.a.; school or community service; good character; enrolled full-time; financial need; and potential for success.

Takenaka Scholarship

2.8 cum g.p.a.; full or part-time; some need; and potential for success.

Yamasaki Scholarship

To provide scholarships to Kaua`i CC students with financial need, preference is given to single parents and first generation college students.

  • TRADE TECHNOLOGY

EHW Broadbent Scholarship

To provide scholarships to Autobody, Automotive, or Facilities Engineering Maintenance students at Kaua`i CC. Undergraduate; full-time or half-time; minimum 2.0 cumulative g.p.a.; some need; and ABRP, AMT, FENG majors at Kaua`i CC.

International Test Evaluation Association (ITEA) Scholarship

Undergraduate; full-time or half-time; some need; 2.5 cumulative g.p.a.; Electronic Technology major at Kaua`i CC. Also available to transferring Kaua`i CC students and entering Running Start or Early Admit student taking electronics courses.

William P. and Mary B. Massey Trade Scholarship

Undegraduate; full-time or half-time; 2.5 cumulative g.p.a.; some need; and Trade Technology major at Kaua`i CC.

Undergraduate; full-time or half-time; some need; 2.75 cumulative g.p.a.; Electronic Technology major at Kaua`i CC.

 

  • LIBERAL ARTS

Kaua`i Island Utilities Cooperative (KIUC) Charitable Foundation Scholarship

Resident of Kaua'i; graduated from a high school on Kaua'i or obtained a GED equivalency; enrolled full-time (12 credit hour minimum); pursing a degree in Liberal Arts.

 

  • EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Anna Sloggett Early Childhood Education Scholarship

Undergraduate; full-time; cumulative 2.8 grade point average; born on the island of Kaua`i; some need; and Early Childhood Education Major at Kaua`i CC.

Henry and Dorothy Castle Foundation Scholarship

Undergraduate; full-time or half-time; cumulative 2.5 grade point average; some need; and Early Childhood Education Major at Kaua`i CC.

 

  • HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

Lyle and Grace Guslander Scholarship (Sponsored by the Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association - Kaua`i Chapter)

Successful completion of one semester (12 credits) as a HOST Major; 2.0 cum g.p.a.; full-time; exhibit evidence of leadership and community service; and HOST Major at Kaua`i CC.

Takenaka Internship Scholarship

Undegraduate; full-time or half-time; 2.5 cumulative g.p.a.; some need; and HOST major at Kaua`i CC.
