HORT 200 - Introduction to Horticulture (DB)

Class hours: 2 lecture and 2 lecture/lab
Prereq: “C” or higher in BOT 101 or SCI 121/121L.
Description: This course is an introduction to horticultural
crop science with emphasis on plant structure and function, and environmental
factors that affect plant growth. The class will cover the horticultural industry,
horticultural crop families, growing systems, soil preparation and
fertility, soil and water management, plant breeding and varieties,
identifying and controlling pests, regulating plant growth, harvesting,
value-added applications, and marketing.
