The Kaua`i Community College Performing Arts Center is a 560 seat theater which
opened in 1995,
after it was damaged by Hurricane Iniki during initial construction.
The Performing Arts Center presents a variety of performing arts events, including
Hawaiian music
and dance, classical and jazz music, plays and foreign/independent films. In
the first two years, 85
events have been held in the Performing Arts Center attracting more than 27,000
Kaua`i residents
and visitors. Events held at the Kaua`i Community College Performing Arts Center
included musicians
such as The Brothers Cazimero and Charlie Byrd, international touring groups
from Africa, Japan
and Brazil and theatrical performances by Hollywood celebrities like Anne Francis
and Lauren Tom.
The Performing Arts Center is also used by community non-profit organizations,
including the
Kaua`i Concert Association and the Hawaii International Film Festival.
